Catalytic Converter Substrate Identification

Succeeding where others had failed, Tri One Systems helped a manufacturer ensure quality for its catalytic converters by verifying the installed substrate component was correct. Tri One examined the range of options and pursued each path in order of preference until a workable solution was achieved. The result for the customer was confidence in its process and reduced or eliminated defects and liability for the component in question.

Web Inspection Sequence Tracking

To avoid duplication and ensure high-quality labels, this high-speed system implements five In-Sight cameras to read and grade the 2D barcodes. The information is then sent through Ethernet to a PC-based data processing application that ensures the barcode string of each label printed to the web is unique. In the event of a low grade or duplicate barcode string, a quick-dry mark is applied directly to the edge of the web.

Label Registration Inspection

Using six cameras, a wide variety of labels are inspected at high speed as they are spooled. Geometric tools are used to verify that each label is printed within registration. The quality and position of certain key features is also inspected. Depending on the type of label being produced, 2D or linear grading also takes place. Any inspection failures result in a defect sticker being applied to the web at the defect location.
